Intolerance test

Hi,

I've had a lot of bloating and have had this put down to endo related symptoms (not confirmed) and peri menopause - I'm 39 and my blood tests showed no signs of this. Clear smear tests etc.

I'm pretty certain I have an intolerance of some sort as the bloating and aches come and go. Is there a reliable home intolerance test that anyone could recommend? I don't want to bother my GP with this if I can help it.

Unfortunately no. Most allergies are diagnosed with elimination.

Is there a food that you've noticed that you have a problem with? If not, it's usually a case of keeping a food diary.

I would see a GP though to rule out Coeliac Disease.

The only intolerance you can test for is lactose intolerance. You can also be tested for coeliacs but that’s not as simple as an intolerance/none IGE allergy. For none IGE allergies the only tests is removal and reintroduced. Lots of adults do this by following the FODMAP diet.

Hi, I'm postmenopausal and suffer from awful bloating but I haven't been able to pin down what the cause is. You can have intolerance tests that test for all sorts of things and I've ordered a kit from York Labs which my friend recommended. Once I have done the test and received the results, I'd be happy to let you know how I got on

Try cutting out wheat (gluten). Even if only for a couple of days to start with. Gluten intolerance seems to be very common in older women. I tried it a few years back for a day, and haven't gone back. It's cleared up my skin too.
