Could it be eczema?

What are the symptoms of eczema? My dd (20 months) has dry skin on her chest, stomach, and upper back. There were many tiny red raised dots all of the areas a couple of days ago. The skin is now just dry and itchy (she scrathes when I take her shirt off). She has no other symtoms (i.e. no fever, full of energy, eating fine, good mood, etc.). I read last night on the web the eczema tends to occur in families which have a history of asma and hayfever. My dh and I both have syblings with asma, and I have a sybling with hayfever. My dad also has many allergies. So, I thought eczema might be the culprit.

Can anyone tell me what the symtpoms of eczema are? Should I take her to the GP?

Hello Uwila. I think there are different kinds of eczema. My son had red scratchy eczema on his wrists and inside of his elbows. Skin felt slightly raised and bumpy, and if he was given chance to scratch would occasionally get infected. Probably best get it checked out.

There are many different types of eczema. take her to the gp's in the morning/soon and ask them to check it out, make sure you mention it is itchy.
