Not really an allergy question ...maybe, but have recently noticed that my dd has circular dry patches of skin on her body. her legs have felt dry like this for some time but i never really thought anything of it. now she has a patch on the side of the tummy, about the size of a 20p piece. the patches on her legs seem to be smaller. i had something similar in my teens called pityriosis rosea and it was no problem at alll and just cleared up. mine were rose coloured though, hers are normal skin coloured and apart from being rougher are invisible to the eye.

has anyone had anything similar in their babies? obv i shall have to take her to doc, just wondered. bit concerned and dont want to start her on gluten foods just in case.

(bf btw)

My 5 mth old ds has very dry skin on his legs which bothers me, but I think that this is because we live at a high altitude with very low humidity-my dd was never like this in the UK when small.
I have been massaging him with E45 cream which seems to help.

Egypt, DS has this too - I can't say I have ever been concerned because he seems fine and has had it for at least 3/4 months. Odd though isn't it?

thanks moondog. am always massaging her with almond oil which we use at baby massage. its just small patches really so dont think its dry skin in general. she certainly isnt flaky and you cant rub it to flake it off either. we'll see... hmm.

you seem to have a reason for yours so thats good.

My ds had it and the H/V prescribed aqueous cream to use as soap in the bath and as cream, worked wonders. HTHx

From 6 months plus you can give them Essential Balance Junior which is caramel flavour - it contains flax seed etc - it is great at tackling the root of dry skin i.e. not enough essential fatty acids in the body. Just put a teaspoon in her fruit purees.
