Help with milk challenge!

Looking for some advice from anyone who has done the milk challenge with formula. My son’s dietician wants me to try he is now 11 weeks old. How soon did your children react? I’m so frightened to getting so far then he’s back screaming in pain and I don’t know how long after stopping will the pain go away! I guess I’ve just been enjoying the happy baby and hate the idea of him being upset again.

How are you getting on now @cates94? Have you tried it yet?

I've actually decided to postpone to January when he's 4 months and bit stronger. Plus selfishly with Christmas round the corner I don't want a grumpy upset baby! Plus his gut will be a bit stronger incase he's just one of those babies with a temp allergy

I can totally sympathise with you. I have CMPA and it would take me a good 2 weeks to recover from having dairy. That's a long time to have a miserable baby Flowers

Yeah 2 weeks too long for me haha! I know it has to be done! But my gut told me to wait! Praying he's grown out of it!

Usually the milk ladder is done at around 12 months. I don't blame you for waiting but just wondering why the Dietitian wants you to try earlier. Have they said?

She said to fully confirm he has CMPA but in my opinion he does!! Because when we changed to aptamil pepti 1 his rash disappeared, he settled down and completely changed! That was enough proof for me! They said to try normal formula as some babies do outgrow the allergy, if he fails this then we will do milk ladder at 12 months, but they want to know before I wean him, incase he has out grown it and then we shouldn't unnecessarily exclude dairy while weaning. My GP agreed it's too early
