Puramino out of stock

Hi all,

Our baby had a severe cmpa reaction after 4 days on a formula when she was born. after spending a week at hospital for a severe reaction we were discharged with a prescription for Puramino. All fine since. We put in our prescription for more this week but discovered that it is out of stock... Everywhere. Boots, asda, and 10 other pharmacists were out and all said their supplier was out of stock and so they couldn't even order any.

She can't have one that is less broken down than Puramino, that made her bleed into her nappies too.

We have made a request to the gp but are still waiting to hear.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there an alternative type by another brand?
What is going on?!

Thanks.

There are a couple of other formulas that are as broken down as puramino - neocate and alfamino. If you really can't find puramino, those would be your safest options but avoid buying over the counter if you can as they're about 40 quid a tin! Are you on the cmpa group on Facebook? I have seen mums post on there previously (there are also regional sub groups) when they either can't find their formula or have surplus to give away when their babies switch or wean off. Really hope you can find some, I have been the person paying 40 quid for a tin of alfamino before!

Was also going to suggest Alfamino we've had babies at work on that. It stinks though!

Thanks for all of your suggestions, that's good to know there are other formulas at least. I have seen there are online chemists who will take a prescription too, so will perhaps try that?

If there was anywhere selling it over the counter surely I could just use the prescription anyway? Or is that not the case?

I don't know on that but hope you've managed to find some now Flowers

Not yet, the GP wants us to wait until Monday, the last day we will have any, as they want to avoid us changing prescription (we would like to avoid that too). Boots have said "we might have some delivered by then... But we might not". So that's what we're holding out for.

The thing that gets me at this point is the gp has no way of knowing if the alternative is in stock anywhere or not.
