Hiya guys, in need of advice pretty please.

My lo hasn't slept a full night since she has been born as she has really struggled with her tummy. trapped wind and passing it at night time as well as reflux

I've spoken to our HV - they don't seen overly interested. I went to GP when she was 3 months old, they put us on a trial of lactose free milk for 6 weeks as I believed it was a dairy intolerance. We were told to wean her on cows milk again after the 6 weeks. They thought she's just got colic.

She is now 9months and since starting eating foods its worse. She wakes 2 times a night with tummy pain and still struggling to pass her wind from her last bottle of the day. I've tried lactose free, I've done food journals. I just don't know why she can't pass wind on her own throughout the night but we're all exhausted.

Any insight or advice would be amazing. Thanks very much.

Twice a night isn't bad for that age

Yes my 15 month old still often wakes once or twice it's quiet normal. Have you tried baby massage to help with gas?

Mine is 3 and still wakes. They're children.

Waking at night is normal, OP. You are also in the middle of the 8-10 month regression which is a long developmental phase and usually makes for more wakeful nights. That being said I'd have been thrilled by only waking twice!

Also lactose is different to cows milk protein. Very, very rare for a baby to have lactose intolerance. Lactose free milk won't help if it's CMPA ( 2 of mine have CMPA plus other allergies ) as lactose is the sugar in milk so it still contains the protein.

Firstly, waking twice a night at 9 months is totally normal. By 12 months around half will need some kind of intervention from parents to help them get back to sleep.

Then there's a killer of a sleep regression at 9 months which means that things might just improve on there own.

One thing that does Stoke me from your post though is that you've only ever tried reducing Lactose.

Lactose intolerance isn't unheard of in babies but is extremely rare. Has anyone mentioned the possibility of CMPA? Have a read of this from Allergy UK and see if any of the symptoms fit.

Has Tongue Tie been assessed properly too?
