This is probably going to be quite long… I had covid back in January and then had covid like symptoms but no positive test in March.
I had a bit of a sore throat which got worse and wouldn’t shift, to the point it became difficult to eat. I also had horrendous fatigue for about a month until I realised my throat was better in the day, it got worse when I got home, and I was drinking a lot of squash (y’know to help with my sore throat!!) I tried a different brand of squash and was loads better within a few days, when I checked the ingredients the main difference was that the second one didn’t have sulphites in.
Carried on as normal but was a bit wary about drinking wine or cider as I know they have sulphites in but had the occasional glass of bubbly over the summer. No further issues, until Friday, last week I had a really bad cold, and on Friday night on holiday I had a glass of wine and a bottle of cider, throat was agony by the time I got home, and is still slightly sore now even though I’ve been really careful for the last 48 hours. The thing that’s getting me the most at the moment is the fatigue. I had a two hour nap yesterday afternoon and dozed off on my sun bed this afternoon which is really unlike me.
I also developed a reaction to the deodorant I’ve been using for years a couple of years back (extreme itching and a scaly rash) which also developed after being ill and I now have one very itchy, gunky eye (which may or may not be related).
is it possible to have an allergy that is worse when you’ve been poorly?
I’m really struggling because I’m terrified to eat now even though I’ve never had a reaction to any food, all the websites I’ve looked at list loads of stuff that contains sulphites, but when I look at Tesco it’s not in their ingredients, this obviously isn’t helped by being in a foreign country and I don’t know if the bloody Heinz ketchup here is the same recipe as the one in Tesco 😭 (just as an example!)
