My 4 week old was experiencing bloody mucus poops. He was breastfeed for 5 days then put on aptamil formula. He had been fine on that but then developed these poops along with what looked like baby acne on his face and very gassy. No vomiting, fever or loss of appetite. Ended up at GPs where he did a poop that alarmed the doctor to refer us straight to the paediatric referral unit where we stayed overnight. We have now been prescribed althera, blood tests showed no infection or bacteria, still waiting on stool sample results.
The althera seems so watery in comparison so unsure it is filling him up as seems so restless after a feed where as before he'd go milk drunk and be asleep for 4 hours. Now he just arches his back, goes purple from crying and just seems so miserable. He also developed a red raw nappy rash as I used wipes and didn't realise cotton wall and water was better, he now has cream for that so I know that doesn't help at the moment. Anyone has similar experiences on althera or what has been peoples experience using it?
Any words of advice are welcome.
