Aptamil Pepti/CMPA experience

Hello,

I have a 5.5 week old DD who is suffering quite a lot at the moment with what we believed to be silent reflux. Ended up being prescribed gaviscon which didn’t do anything. A few days later ended up back at the gp due to a face rash/eczema and they diagnosed CMPA, albeit mild. (Her cousin has it so thankfully we knew what to look out for!)

We have been prescribed aptamil pepti and have been using it for 48 hours without much difference (if anything the rash is slightly worse than 2 days ago). We were told to stop using the gaviscon.

I suppose my questions are:

  • For those who have used hypoallergenic formulas (in particular aptamil pepti) when did you notice a positive difference? (I’m aiming to trial it for a week before going back and asking for an amino acid one).
  • If your DC also suffered with reflux alongside, did you need to take separate medication for that or did the formula work alone?
Thanks!

No experience as it's me with CMPA and not the DC but hopefully this will bump for you Flowers

Hi, my DS has CMPA and has silent reflux. He's been on nutrimigen since 4 weeks old but he also requires omeprazole and gavison to help the reflux. It took about 2 weeks to start noticing a difference in symptoms due to the CMPA. It can take up to 3 weeks for any cow's protein to leave the body and improvements to be seen.

I am in your position right now! We're day 4 of Pepti and no difference, although im not expecting a miracle!

How are you getting on?

Hi,

How are you getting on?

We're on day 4 of Aptimel Pepti 1 and the rash has gone down a bit but her colic and reflux symptoms seem to be back in force in the evenings.

We're still using infant gaviscon for reflux, but think this is losing its effectiveness and as it can only be used 6 times a day it is difficult, and does cause harder poos - despite the GP saying it doesn't

Would be nice to hear whether the Aptimel Pepti 1 has started helping your little one?
