Girl died after using it, other people have mentioned they've had problems. I'm glad we've never tried it.

(Mail 18 January, Francesca Sanna the girl's name if you need to search for it because the link doesn't work)

this girl had other allergies.
there has been no real proof that the toothpaste was the cause.
That is of course difficult to prove.

However, its worth considering the other factors in the environment.

Her only symptoms seem to have been sore gums from using the toothpaste.

Could this be a mild allergy>? but coupled with other factors resulted in anaphylaxis?

I would certainly say that if any toothpaste makes your gums sore and bleeding, stop using it.
However I wouldnt just blame aqua fresh, if you compare ingrediant listings most have the same lists.
So dont just stop buying aquafresh, stop using ANY toothpaste that causes a problem.

I have heard of toothpaste causing problems, but only mildly .
Its funny, but I never thought to check toothpaste, but do check ingrediant listings on mouthwash!!

This is such a sad story. Heartbreaking really.

since this was reported I have seen reports of other people with allergies who stopped using it because it made their mouth feel strange.

I have never thought to check a toothpaste listing either but no matter how many statements the manufacturer puts out I won't be buying their toothpaste. Impossible to prove what caused the girls death but there are many other toothpastes.

one to avoid, thanks tatt

now heard that some reports of problems have been sent to the Anaphylaxis campaign. I hope Aquafresh will now take this more seriously than they seem to have done so far.

If you read the report, the makers say that the product has remained unchanged since 2001 - only the packaging has changed.

Who would have thought toothpaste was something to watch out for?!
