Refrain from using new steroid cream before allergist appt?

I have an appt for my son (8m) with a paediatric allergist on Saturday. Today, our GP prescribed a strong steroid cream and she wants to see him again end of next week. I'm wondering whether it would make more sense to wait until after our appt on Saturday to start the new treatment so that the allergist can see the state of his skin as it is currently? We've also been waiting for this appt for a while now and are paying for it ourselves... On the other hand, it feels cruel to keep him suffering and we're all very sleep deprived. Any advice?

you can still use the steroid and explain how it benefits, what the skins like without.
my advice - only wash your child with Luke warm water, no prolonged baths - preserve those skin oils - think how hot soapy water washes oils off baking trays!
