Hi there I have a 5.5month DD she is currently on SMA LF since about 8 weeks as was very unsettled since birth crying, windy, gurggly tummy constant ruuny eyes and constant runny bottom!! until eventually diarrhoea was bright green bile. She was also a lower weight than expected. I saw my HV last week for advice as she is shortly due for waening and when I explained what had gone on she asked me to see GP again as her poos are still greenish in colour sometimes with dark green flecks and very formed. She was concerned that perhaps was milk allergy rarther than LI. I then saw the dr who weighed her and as she had gained weight nicely and lokked 'happy@ she said not to worry about poos as probably nothing to carry on as we are. So after all this I guess my question is is she only LI am I worrying over nothing as that's how I have been made to feel. The dr just felt that the Hv was 'covering herself' in her words??!!

I don't think they worry as long as they are gaining weight. If I were you I would keep an eye on the situation and keep a record of reactions and diet. It might be something and nothing but you need to be careful my dd is lactose intolerant and it caused a lot of problems particularly due to the excess mucus it can produce.

Thanks I felt she was improved when she went on the sma lf and I was just gathering info for weaning but it was just the HV's comments that worried me as if maybe something had been missed. I will start weaning in a few weeks see how she goes milk free diet and the GP said she would review her in 1month

Thanks for your advice I actually recieved the information from the HV yesterday through the post on milk protein intolerance and lactose intolerance it is so hard as quite a lot of the symptoms are similar having said that I noticed that the milk used for Milk protein intolerance is lactose free also.
