Sudden unknown allergy

Hi,

Anyone had a sudden unidentifiable allergy? I've had a few major (not anaphylaxis, but that's the worry about what could happen) reactions recently, but have no idea what to. Never had any allergies before, aside from minor hay-fever, so it's been a bit frightening. It's clearly a food allergy, but no clue what. I've been referred to an allergy clinic, but no idea how long that will take.

Anyone had this? It's baffling and quite scary. Suddenly I feel unsafe eating. Having spent a day in hospital recently in absolute agony,I really want to know what's causing it.

Yes, me! Couldn't get to the bottom of what caused it and my dermatologist said it was chronic urticaria and then explained that CU is where a cause can't be found and the hives/reaction lasts for more than six weeks. Mine lasted six months and during that time I took antihistamines four times a day every day. It was horrible and I hope it never reappears.

YES - out of nowhere I have developed a hideous allergy this year. Since Feb I've had an awful red swollen rash on my face. It is extremely painful. My GP doesn't know what it is and the prescription antihistamines she's put me on aren't working. The pain woke me up in the night. No idea what to do. Does anyone know what the best allergy clinic in London is? Or should I see a dermatologist?

I developed a food allergy in my late 30s. As it was a specific food it was easy to work out what was happening

Asking around friends etc it isn't that unusual do develop allergies as you get older
