My 5 month old has been vomiting after feeds since he was born.
He is sick after feeds and this can happen several times after a feed for over an hour, small amounts sometimes a lot.
He was seen by hospital who tried different milks: cows milk protein free, then lactose free and now a milk that’s cmp free, lactose free and has thickener in it. He is still sick but not as much, also on omeprazole.
I’m not sure that he has an intolerance to cmp or lactose. As he is still sick.
Has anyone in this situation introduced normal formula back in and how?

That sounds so difficult, sorry you're having such a trouble! Not much advice to give unfortunately but have you trialled a soy and cmp free milk such a neocate? A lot of CMPA babies also have a soy allergy so if you're on something like PurAmino they could still react to that. Equally, neocate contains coconut which can also be an allergy.
CMPA milks are also so thin that even with a thickener, some can cause sickness. Is that little ones only symptom? It's such a whirlwind but I promise it gets better!

Sorry, totally missed your last line which actually contained the question! We did a milk challenge of reintroducing a normal formal and failed miserably with rashes and blood in poo etc. May be worth discussing with your GP as they can talk you through it and if little one is no worse on normal milk then it could be something else causing the sick rather than intolerance?

Wow that sounds awful for baby!
We have had no issues with rashes or blood in poo before the special milks or after. The only symptom has been vomiting. He is still sick after all of the special milks he has had, he is on his 3rd one. This one CMP free and lactose free with a thickener (novalac aminA - it’s a Spanish milk).
We are having problems getting enough if it from the chemist to last and have run out a few times and had to give whatever lactose free milk I am able to buy from the chemist (which can’t be good for baby changing milks).
Some days it seems as if he throws a lot of his bottle up still with the aminA.
It’s expensive milk so they will only give 1 small pot every 3 days which doesn’t last the 3 days!

My partner is suggesting introducing normal formula as he doesn’t think any of them are helping and that it’s nothing to do with allergies. I’m in the chemist every 3 days and stressing about running out all the time!
How did u try introducing milk? Start replacing 1 bottle in the day and see how he goes? thanks for the advice!

Sorry I meant how did you start introducing normal formula when you tried, not milk!

That sounds so stressful for you both! I think it's definitely worth seeing if it stays the same on normal milk. If there is no worsening of symptoms then although it doesn't help you in terms of the sickness, it does rule out CMPA/intolerance and mean you can go onto the normal formuals. We changed one scoop of the formula per day. So 5oz allergy milk, 1oz normal on the first day, then 4oz and 2oz and so on. Good luck! Hope you get some answers soon!
