DS , 12 , is allergic to peanuts, cashews, and pistachios. He often eats eggs in baked goods or pancakes. He only usually likes egg whites, which he eats fried.

Today he came up in a skin rash on his chest, back and arms after eating a boiled egg, which he wouldn't normally eat. I gave antihistamines and he seems OK. It was about 25 minutes ago.

Is he now allergic to eggs? Was it the yolk, which he is not accustomed to eating? Can I still give him pancakes and cakes? Dare I try him with fried egg white again? What should I do/not do.

I am extremely anxious, especially about his allergies. Luckily we have never needed to use his epipen but I am constantly worrying about him, especially as he gets older. Sad

Could it be that the protein is cooked for longer in cakes and pancakes so it's broken down more?

A friend is allergic to eggs so can’t have certain vaccines, but can eat cakes etc which have egg in them

Thank you. I think we will very cautiously try him with baked goods and hold off on any more plain egg. Though he did like a fried egg.
