Bit of advice needed..

Can I be reassured about a negative skin prick test for dogs and cats for my 9 month old. I would love to relax now, but a friend told me if babies havn't had enough exposure to the allergen the result can't be guaranteed.

Thanks, hope eveyone has a healthy and peaceful christmas as possible.

tests are never 100% reliable, even if your child has been exposed. If you're thinking of getting a cat the Cat Protection League will take the cat back if a child does have an allergy but with a baby they will only let you have a cat, not a kitten.

I was told that negative skin prick tests at 95% accurate, but positive ones only 50%
