Allergies and intolerances

Is this a cmpa rash?

My 6 week old has been having symptoms of a milk intolerance for weeks but as he's a chubby baby and had no rash gp has been dismissive.

He's now had a rash all over his face for 3 days. It flares more after feeding.

Opinions welcome.

It looks like it to me @Bananapancakes6, especially if it's worse after feeding.

Hello! My little girl has something similar - we have our 6 week check up on Tuesday. What has your doc said about your little one’s rash?

Thanks for getting back to me! So great you’ve got a diagnosis and a plan, and seeing some improvement. My baby is EBF so going to trial dairy free before the doc appointment and see if there is any improvement in her rash and other symptoms too 🤞

@Bananapancakes6 glad that they GP took it seriously and has given you an alternative milk. Have they also referred you to an Paediatric Dietician?

@PowerO This article from Kellymom might help if you’re giving up dairy Smile

Cmpa doesnt have to have a rash. You can have any of the symptoms and if still be a diagnosis. Personally, if you're seeing other symptoms then trial dairy (and soya) free for a few weeks and then challenge - join the CMPA for breastfeeding Facebook group for guidelines. Sadly most health professionals are completely clueless so don't rely on GP or referral to give you any answers, you'll need to find them yourself with the exclusion diet.

I would however get a tongue tie assessment from a qualified lactation consultant l, not a midwife, HV or GP as symptoms can be similar
