Fake Christmas tree

This is going to sound ridiculous but just lately I've been sneezing a lot and eyes itching and I'm wondering if I'm allergic to the Christmas tree. It's fake with pine cones on it.

Just lately?
So, not from the moment the tree was put up?
Nothing else new?

It's definitely not Covid. I've had that already and it's irritated eyes not illness. It's been a few weeks I think. It's just I'm realising it more now if that makes sense.

It's only when I'm at home

People who have had delta are now being infected with omicron. One of the symptoms is sneezing, some people have only reported a runny nose. You don’t need to feel ill for it to be Covid.

It is possible to be allergic to fake Christmas trees! If its an older one and has got dusty, the heat from the lights can make the dust get up in the air and set off allergies. Can can be allergic to chemicals sprayed onto fake trees. Also its possible to be allergic to pine cones.

If you only have symptoms at home, then its not covid. There is no location specific varient of covid and symptoms only happening at home suggests something is setting off an allergy. Might not be the tree, could be other decorations, air freshener, new recipe of furniture polish etc.

Probably the dust off the tree especially if it's been stored in the loft

It's probably dust from the tree

Thank you both. It's only a couple of years old and was stored in the garage. Never had issues with fake trees before which makes me think it's the pine cones. I'll see what it's like when it comes down.

Can you remove the pine cones? At least that will resolve that issue.

When the tree comes down, take it outside and give it a really good shake before storing. If you can make sure its container is fully sealed, even better. Good luck, allergies are hideous.

I will do. Thanks. Don't really want to remove the pine cones Sad

We had to get rid of our last Christmas Tree, it was also fake, fir just the same reason.

We had it for years though and I suspect it was the dust that I was reacting to rather than the tree.

We bought a new fake tree and I'm fine with this one Smile
