Hi, i was wondering if anyone has experienced similar symptoms to my 3 and a half month old

Rash flares up on forehead on cheeks after a feed
Starting to spit up
Starting to refuse milk
In and out of sleep at night passing ALOT of wind

Gp has prescribed hydrocortisone cream and emollient for the rash but the flare ups are often after a feed and i can’t apply the steroid cream on him for more than twice a day for 7 days

She refuses to prescribe any milk until he’s been referred to where they check for allergies and said it’s fine for him to continue on the milk he’s on atm despite the symptoms.

Feeling so helpless and drained

Could it be CMPA?

That's absolutely not acceptable. I'd ask again for a suitable milk and if they won't prescribe, ask for a second opinion.

Is Dad around? I'd take him along to the appointment and get him to insist on a suitable milk. It's a sad fact but GPS usually take more notice if Dad is there.

Sounds how cmpa started in my boy, though he was BF and reacting to diary in my milk. The flare during or after a feed was obvious.
I found GP care appalling. You need to research and self advocate. If GP won't prescribe hypoallergenic formula get a 2nd opinion or pay out of pocket if you can.
Be aware that there is a theory that babies develop food allergies through their broken skin so try to always wash hands before touching baby and keep on top of the eczema (we needed strong steroids, not hydrocortisone). Even cooking around broken skin may create food allergies. This is all stuff I wish I knew when my little one was going through this.

Sounds exactly like my now 2 year olds CMPA. He was breastfed and so I had to go dairy free too but the change was almost instantaneous. The best way to know is do 2 weeks dairy free and see what happens. Good luck.

How are you both getting on now @Mamaslove55?

@DominicRaabsTravelAgent
Surprisingly the GP called back to arrange to see baby at the practice, i again showed her these pics and pics of babys poop, the paediatrician called me a few days later and after that conversation he wrote to the GP asking to prescribe a dairy free formula

Baby is now on Neocate LCP and his skin has cleared up so nicely no more flare ups. After 2 weeks i decided to give him a bottle of HIPP organic to see if he would react and he did straight away the rash came up again. He’s starting to settle well on Neocate it’s caused alot of wind at the start which has settled but is now starting to cause reflux, as the milk is super thin. I am considering adding a thickener to his feeds if the reflux gets worse
