So my six month old has eczema and I've noticed a connection with his flares and visiting my mum (who has a dog), and the dog visiting us. I am therefore worried he has a pet allergy. This is going to be a nightmare to navigate as both sets of grandparents have dogs.

So please tell me how you manage your child's pet allergy, and in particular contact with pets and people with pets. E.g. last week we met my mum outdoors, she kissed my baby and afterwards I found dog hairs on him. Would that be enough to cause a flare? Has anyone had to deal with this ind of situation before?

I’m allergic to pets and so is DD, who also has asthma. Your best bet is to avoid all contact with furry things, DD for example can’t go to houses where there’s a cat. It’s a total pain especially as more and more people seem to have cats and dogs! If you must go somewhere with a pet, take antihistamines first - piriteze and piriton both work well for pet allergies.
