Change allergy labelling

Please help! I’ve recently created a government petition to change allergy labelling with “may contains” to clearly label and differentiate between peanuts and tree nuts. I would really appreciate any support in signing the petition and sharing it!

My 9mo daughter has very recently been diagnosed and it’s so overwhelming at times but I find “may contains” really hard when you can’t be certain if a company is listing nuts and peanuts under the same branch or not! Thanks in advance for any support on this!

Nuts and peanuts are considered separate allergens so if it says ‘may contain nuts’ that shouldn’t mean peanuts (see this list of the 14 common allergens).

You would think so but they don’t! When listing them as ingredients they must by law be listed as separate allergen (as they are) but when a company chooses to list them as a “may contain” some companies decide to group the two together even though they are not the same thing! Hence my petition 😃
