Eczema and washing

Hello! Both my little ones (4 and 1) have really bad eczema all over. Desperately trying anything to keep it at bay. However because we live in a hard water area we’re finding it impossible to put together a clothes washing routine that works to keep the clothes soft (lack of fabric conditioner often causes the clothes to be scratchy and irritate the eczema) but also stain free because being little stains are a huge issue. Does anyone have any advice?! Many thanks!

Have you tried any of the sensitive softeners?
Soda crystals in with the wash can soften the water too
Do they have food allergies that are making the eczema worse?

Tumble dryer will soften the clothes. We used to use ecoballs and when stains got REALLY bad we'd wash them in vanish but then rewash several times with eco balls. Also buy clothes that don't show stains so much!

Hey just seen your comment about eczema,

I used a natural product from www.nourishandnatureuk.com

It was called Mother Natures Oats this it was only £5.95 and I can honestly say this is then best thing I’ve come across for eczema and the added bones was it’s 100% natural so 0 chemical creams on my baby,

Took 2/3 baths and the improvement was amazing plus the skin was so soft and smooth after this as well,

I’ve recommended this to so many people now definitely worth a try

Hope this helps x

If you're adding things to the bath, I used to literally take a handful of oats and tie them in a muslin cloth and put the whole thing in the bath. Definitely helps.

Surcare? They do both detergent and fabric softener

We tried Method and it seemed to be our solution to eczema! No softener, just tumble dried.

Also maybe get a water filter? I don’t know if it’s feasible with a washing machine, but could work as a sink attachment if you’re hand washing.

excema family here.
what really helps us is washing with bio powder (not liquid) and with the long cotton cycles that rinse clothes properly.

I use less powder, about half.
I'm not bothered about the softness tbh.
