CMPA and Oat Intolerance?

Hi

Looking for advice as to whether it's possible to have an intolerance to oat (not the gluten specifically) along side CMPA?

My DS has had CMPA from birth with no tolerance for any amounts of dairy. We have failed the milk ladder several times at step 1, most recently 3 weeks ago.

As he is nearly 2 the continued use of Neocate is not clinically indicated so his dietitian has recommended we continue to try and switch him to other non dairy alternatives like oat.

He has been having small quantities of oat in cereal/porridge for some time and we hasn't noticed any major reaction. Since switching from Neocate to Oat for his evening bottle his skin has flared up, continually gassy and farting, and significant disturbances to his sleep (every 60-90 mins).

Given his age it's hard to attribute these symptoms to one thing as could also be teeth or growth spurt or because the sky is blue but has anyone else experienced the same as above when transitioning from Neocate? I'm wondering if it's a reaction now he is having significant volumes of oat or just because he is adjusting to it, or if it's not possibly that at all.
Also soya intolerant so that's not an option,

Apologies if I have rambled, I didnt want to drip feed.
Thanks if you made it this far.

Not myself but listen to the Made by mamma's podcast. One of the hosts sons has cmpa and oat milk has effects on his skin as you describe. She switched to soya after trying all other alternatives.

Try coconut milk, almond milk, all the other alternatives and find one that suits your little one.
To slightly combat this myself, we cut out the evening bottle for ds at 18months. He now just has oat milk on cerial. He gets calcium from things like coconut or soya yoghurts and high calcium veg

Some children react to oats and it does sound like a reaction.

Try Koko Super, it's coconut milk fortified with vitamins.

@TheGracefulwhale @NameChange30 thanks for your replies. I didn't get notification so apologies for the late response. I haven't given him porridge or oat milk today and I've already seen a slight improvement. Then again I don't know if I'm seeing what I want to see (a peaceful night ahead of me 😂).
Sadly can't try soya as he is confirmed intolerant to that. I will definitely look into Almond/Coconut.

GP has said to revert back to Neocate until things calm down and then try again, so back to eliminate and reintroduction we go. Really thought we'd be further ahead nearly two years later.
