Hi,

My son is 11 weeks old (he was premature and corrected age is 3 weeks) and has been suffering for a while and on Wednesday we were prescribed nutramigen for CMPA. He started it Wednesday evening and since yesterday he has done nothing but cry, pump all the time cause he’s full of gas and he’s pooing loads. He’s seems so uncomfortable and he’s had that many poos his bum has got sore and is bleeding.

Has anyone had this milk and had problems with it? I don’t know whether to continue with it and hope it’s just the adjustment phase or stop it?

That doesn't sound good. This formula still does contain dairy so it might be worth asking fir a dairy free formula.

You may have to insist though as it's more expensive and some doctors are reluctant to prescribe it due to cost.

Thank you, will speak to the doctors again tomorrow. Yes it has been a battle to get them to prescribe anything so can bet it will be even harder for the more expensive ones. He's got rashes now though so definitely not going well on this one, didn't realise it still contained dairy though so that makes sense as to why he could still be reacting to it.

If he's got rashes and a bleeding bum I'd phone 111.

How's his breathing? He's not wheezy is he?

How are things today @Tallulahs09?

Hi,

We spoke to gp today over the phone who wasn't much help at all, said to give it 2 weeks to work but his skin was getting worse so phoned 111 and they said to take him to the hospital. He's been fjeck r out and they've now prescribed neocate to try that instead so really hoping it works.

Another very unsettled day though, he's just miserable all the time the poor thing.

Ohhh bless him and hope ur all doing ok...if u have Instagram follow the magic sleep fairy as she does a lot of live questions and answers about cmpa and gives a lot of advice for baby's on medication etc (I've watched a couple when I was looking into sleep advice for our little boy) also I've heard that nanny care goats milk is ment to be good from boots so maybe look into that xx

Glad 111 suggested going to the hospital, leaving a baby for another 2 weeks seems like poor advice bordering on neglect.

How's he doing on the Neocate?

Allergy U.K. have a helpline, it might be worth giving them a call Thanks
