a nurse at the local hospital suggested asking our gp for a referral for more allergy testing. So I raised this with our gp. His response was that you can't test for everything. He later said you can't go fishing to find out what allergies your child has so the best way to test is to give them a wide range of foods and see what they react to.
We were discussing potentially anaphylactic reactions here, ones that affect breathing but have responded to antihitamine or adrenalin.
Decided it was not worth pushing for a referral as the local hospital only has paediatricians with, probably, not much interest. He mentioned the local private hospital but they don't have anyone properly trained either.
Anyone got a loaded gun I can point at my gp to help him see why I'm not too keen on the try it and see approach?
