pressure eczema since having babies?

I have got horrible patches of hard, dry scabby skin on my ankles and knees, it sometimes gets really hot and itchy, is often quite painful, and is, as you can imagine really attractive! I've only had it since having my babies - youngest 5 months old.The Dr says that it is pressure eczema, probably from crawling on floor and changing nappies on floor. Her advice was to file with a nail file (agony!) and use an emulsifying ointment, I have done this and to be honest it is if anything worse - does anyone have anything similar, or any suggestions?
