School and kiwi allergy

Ds1 aged 14 has had several reactions to kiwi where his mouth goes very red and cracked but he hasn't had any formal testing, we just avoid it.

Tomorrow he has to extract the dna of a kiwi in science. He told the teacher he is allergic to kiwi and she told him he should do the experiment but wear gloves. Would this be ok or cause a reaction? He has only ever had a reaction from eating kiwi, not from touching it.

Hi OP . I hope your son is well after his kiwi DNA extraction ; allergies can intensify on repeated exposure .
Incidentally , some people with an allergy to kiwi fruit can also have a problem with latex (surgeons rubber gloves , glue , certain types of clothing ).
