Sudden onset Eczema?!

Hi all. Looking for some advice. My 20 month old LB (18 months corrected) suddenly developed eczema a couple of months ago (oddly while in hospital for a bronchiolitis episode).
Is it normal for a child to suddenly develop eczema? His skin was fine before and now it's awful around his neck, ankles etc. I've not changed anything like washing powder/bath stuff/foods etc so am lost as to whether it's an allergy causing it or what? Anyone had similar? Or can give any advice? The hospital prescribed the special bath ointment and the cream to use, and we're also using the special Aveeno eczema creams (he's used Aveeno products since he was tiny) Thank you!

Did he have antibiotics in hospital? Is so, it might be worth trying a prebiotic to see if that helps?

My son got eczema out of the blue when he was about 2. I don't think its unusual, it has to start at some time.
He doesn't constantly have it, usually only when its warm weather. He gets it at the back of his knees and elbow folds mostly but some patches on his body.
I can mostly treat with an emollient but sometimes we do need to get some hydrocortisone from the GP.

Sorry didn't answer your question about it suddenly coming on. Mine didn't start until my twenties Smile
