Dietician appointment

Hi, my baby is 61/2 months. She was diagnosed with a CMPA allergy at 3 months, she was exclusively breastfed so I stopped eating dairy. She’s recently been diagnosed with her allergy being severe as she is allergic to hydrolysed formula and has now been prescribed Neocate LCP but she hates it! I’m still breastfeeding and starting to wean but I’m a key worker and will be going back to work soon so need to start combi feeding as producing that much milk for work will be close to impossible! (Very thirsty baby)
She was supposed to see a dietician before weaning to discuss how to go about it but because of everything that is going on with Coronavirus that was cancelled and I’ve had to do it alone. So far so good!
What I’m asking is

  1. what will happen at her dietician and paediatric appointments when we have them?
  2. did anyone struggle to give their baby Neocate LCP and what did you do to get them to drink it?

Can't really help with the Appointment thing sorry as it's me with the allergy, not my DC.

When I did see the dietician though, I think she went through what I ate and suggested a couple of additions to up my calcium. Who know that dried figs were so high in it? Smile

As for getting her to have the formula, some MNers add vanilla essence or nesquik to make the flavour more acceptable.

If you call one of the BFing Helplines, they should be able to help you come up with a return to work plan too Smile

@JiltedJohnsJulie thankyou! My health visitor is amazing but hasn’t worked with severe milk allergy before so she was looking into the vanilla essence thing for me as I had read that before

Hi there my youngest dd is on neocate. Doc told me is tastes awful and to just keep giving it to her and she'll eventually take it. She's been in it nearly a year now and drinks 7oz bottles of it! Honestly if you try it is is vile. She always smells like potatoes too!

Try to make sure her diet has plenty of good fats in too if you don't think she's taking enough milk. So adding things like cold olive oil into mashed or purée food and oily fish twice a week. Things like tinned salmon with bones can be made into little fish cakes for a nice meal for her Smile

@iusedtohavechickens she hates it, she screamed for about ten minutes when I tried to get her to drink it and I gave up and breastfed her, she’s having it in food so I’m just going to keep trying!

Are you going back to work full time and will you be working regular hours or shifts?
