I have just returned from a short break in Spain. On the last night, I went to bed with a sore face, didn't think much of it but woke up with a very sore rash around my mouth. It looked like hives from Google. It appeared to get worse as the day went on and was very sore.
I spoke to a relative who is a pharmacist and she said it may be an allergy or Perioral dermatitis. I took a antihistamine before bed and there was a big improvement overnight. It has continued to disappear over two days with antihistamines and cleansing well. The pharmacist said most likely allergy as improved but keep an eye on it as Perioral dermatitis will need antibiotics.
I do have a known allergy to milk so avoid it. I was eating very similar food and drink while away and nothing unusual. The last night however, I am sure the glass of sangria had sambuca or something similar in. Is it possible that it could be allergy to sambuca or a specific group of alcohol? I don't drink often but would like to know what to avoid. I appreciate that a doctors appointment may be necessary.
thanks
