Do you have carpet? that's more of a worry than the pillows.

I don't wash them as they get ruined in the washing machine, so what I would recomend is getting a new pillow and cover it with anti-mite pillow protector and the pillowcase. I wash the bedding twice a week when DS is coughing much during the night. As for duvets, there are also antimite duver protectors.

Another thing you can do is to put the pillow in the freezer overnight and leave the duvet under the sun for a few hours.

we have carpet upstairs, unfortunately, but not down. hoover v often?

will have to look at anti mite pillow and duvet protectors. will washing then tumble drying really destroy them even if they have recommendations on them to do that?

60 degrees is what is recommended to destroy them (although TBH my pillows die even below that temperature).

If you think it's the carpet I would suggest a lot of wet dusting around the room, wash comforters or freeze them and if you do not vacuum very often it may take doing it several times before the carpets are back to acceptable, so probably vacuum clean everyday for the first few days and then once or twice a week should be more than enough.

I have been told that a rug keeps about 10% of the dust a carpet does. It seems that the other 90% of the dust ends up shifting to the sides of the most walked on areas and near to the walls, so.. concentrate in those areas.
