Reaction when starting weaning

My baby has always been a fussy feeder, often refusing milk, sometimes for many hours at a time. She was diagnosed with reflux at 7 weeks and been on medication since, with limited success. At 5 months, she had awful diarrhoea for 2 weeks and eventually the doctor put her on aptamil pepti 1. The diarrhoea went away although her poo remained green and loose. She had been like this for a month and I was just about to start the milk challenge but this week she has had a rash on her tummy and since yesterday awful diarrhoea again 😫. The timing of his all falls when she is starting weaning so is trying new foods. I have totally stayed away from dairy. She has mostly had fruit and veg although this week she has had spaghetti bolognaise and dairy free yohgurt. I have since read that beef contains the same protein as cows milk. I will be taking her back to the doctors to see what they advise next but I was wondering if any of you had any advice with weaning? I don’t know what I should give her now something has upset her again. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Can I just ask where you've read about the beef? I've got CMPA and it's something I've seen mentioned a couple of times but have read any articles on.

Can I ask if you've been allocated a Paediatric Dietician?

The Baby Reflux lady. You can look her up on Facebook. No we haven’t been located a dietician. Feels like the doctor has just stuck her on different milk just in case and left us!

You need a referral to someone who knows what they’re talking about. GPs are generally quite clueless about allergies in babies. You need a referral to a dietician.

Keep a food diary. Only introduce solids one thing at a time so you know what’s caused a reaction.

Agree that you need a referral. According to the NICE guidelines you should have at least been referred to a Paediatric Dietician.

Thanks for the advice. I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow so I’ll ask then. I asked the health visitor today whose response was to try her on foods containing milk to see if she has a reaction. 😱 she also told me she can have cows milk as a drink now she’s 7 months! 😡😡😡 luckily I’m not an idiot and knew different. Why don’t he professionals know what they’re talking about!!
