Hi, I've been passed from pillar to post by various medical professionals and would welcome some advice to move forward and sort this problem please.
In a nut shell I was bitten on my left forearm 2 weeks ago, the next day I was given antibiotics as a precaution as it seemed to be spreading. They seemed to help within a couple of days, but was unfortunately bitten another 3 times in the following days around the same area. They were quite big welts and very itchy, but I stayed on top of them with various treatments from the pharmacy and they seemed ok. I finished my antibiotics last Sunday and by Monday my left upper arm was aching and felt swollen and heavy - went to GP who agreed it was slightly bigger than my right and gave me a stronger prescription antihistamine. I took this for 3 days but things seemed slightly worse and I woke up at 2.30 this morning with the swelling now in my right arm and my face felt puffy. I was panicking a bit and went to the 24hr walk in where I spent hours waiting only to be told it wasn't an emergency and to go back to my GP for further investigations as my temperature etc was fine. GP did bloods today which were also fine and gave me stronger antihistamine. I am stumped as to why I have this swelling, my arms aren't hot, just feel like bags of water! It does seem to come and go the sensation, but the swelling doesn't really change. I've also got achey legs and my calf's feel slightly firmer than usual, but nothing like my arms. Can insects in this country cause this (do they carry disease?!) or is this likely to be someone else. I'm not even sure what else they can do to investigate? Thank you x
