Advice needed-newborn and formula

What are the signs a newborn isn't agreeing with formula? Maybe an allergy?

Daughter is 10 days old. Only taking 1.5 ounce every 2 hours, writhing and squirming in pain after every bottle. Red faced with tensing. And nappies are very runny. Just not sleeping or taking her feeds well at all.

I'm thinking maybe it's the formula. Has anyone else experienced this?

Of course it could be an allergy/intolerance - but are you sure it's not wind?

My daughter got awful trapped wind in the early days, we found that a huge amount of patting to burp her, and a drop of Infacol once she was a month old with each feed really helped.

Talk to midwife/ health visitor. In the meantime pop her over your knees after each feed and rub her back until she burps. This may work to reduce discomfort. But do call your health advisors, that's what they are there for they won't mind

Newborn digestive systems aren't great. Mine was really gassy and unsettled. There are lots of winding techniques and most babies grow out of it.

My second had worse CMPA than my first. They both had horrible wind in the early days, very unsettled. But the allergy was actually more apparent as hives on my DC's face after formula. Being unsettled in itself probably isn't unusual, but it is worth speaking to your midwife, GP or health nurse for advice.
