Has anyone overturned a ‘possible’ CMPI diagnosis by going back to normal formula?

My little boy is 19 weeks old on Tuesday. After periods of unsettled crying etc GPs and private consultant diagnosed silent reflux.

We then saw our NHS paediatrician who straight away said it’s CMPI due to eczema. She prescribed us similac alimentum.

My boys reflux has definitely worsened on this milk. He is sick constantly (he is also on ranitidine and omeprazole) and I think still quite unsettled and irritable. I’m not convinced it’s CMPI - no history of it anywhere in our family and my 6 year old never suffered however he did have eczema which he has now grown out of.

I’m getting to the point where I am thinking about going back to C&G anti reflux as he was far less sick.

Has anyone done this and had success? Or am I mad to be thinking of changing??

Ask for an alternative formula first. My daughter is CMPA and she is on aptamil Pepti. They first trialled her on another one (I don’t have the name sorry) and it made her vomit. There is no cmpa in my family either but she definitely has it.

DarcieS my little boy is sick all the time on this milk. I’ve heard neocate is ‘the best’ but that it fully hydrolysed and don’t want that really. What does the pepti do to her nappies if you don’t mind me asking?? Does she have any reflux?

Do they think allergy or intolerance - CMPA could be diagnosed with a skin prick test and if doc thinks it’s allergy I wouldn’t go back to regular formula until you know either way.

ZenaThor intolerance. Slight eczema and irritable - bad colic.

@mummy081212 no reflux but she’s on omperazole as a precautionary measure for other reasons. She lost 80% of her small intestine when she was born (we spent a long time in NICU), so her stools are never going to be the same as a normal babies so she’s on a thickening medication. We’ve never changed this medicine and yet on Apatamil Pepti her stools been her best ever - semi formed at times.
