Salicylate allergy?

Does anyone have experience of salicylate allergy/sensitivity? We think DH might have this but aren't sure how to go about confirming it. He's asthmatic but his asthma is well-controlled. He's reacted badly to aspirin in the past and now doesn't take it. For the past 4-5 months he's been getting awful breathlessness in the evening - coinciding with eating. He's also had migraines much more regularly than usual - sometimes two or three a week. He's been to the doctor loads - they keep testing his peak flow rate (always fine) and putting him on steroids in case it's asthma-related but it's never helped.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I am intolerant to salicylates and have to avoid aspirin, ibuprofen and raw tomatoes as I react badly to all of them.

Sever gastric reflux can affect your breathing, since that piece of the puzzle coincides with eating is it a possibility?
