How long after gluten exposure do your symptoms last? I am fee,in rubbish and 6 days ago accidentally ate something contaminated. I have terrible left lower gut pain.

Also, do you know if you become more sensitive to gluten the longer you avoid it? I seen really sensitive where once I barely had a reaction.

TIA

I think it depends on how much gluten for me. So if I had eaten a whole bowl of normal pasta it would be worse than something just contaminated. Have you tried buscopan? This can help with cramps.

Sorry you're still feeling rubbish

Mine usually last a day or two. Symptoms are less gastro now and more foggy head. I have found symptoms have got worse the longer I have been gluten free.

I do not have coeliac, but my family has multiple instances, so my grown up kids are at risk. Each case seems a little different; my late sister , after starting to have "symptoms" in her 20s , was within a few years in a bad way ( vomiting and other end) after what seemed like a smell of gluten. My nephew just feels " a bit washed out" if he eats gluten ( but officially diagnosed at 50) … and others are all varied. One cousin was not expect to live till she was 10, and is now a hale and stout 75. Avoids gluten, obviously. So it is all different.

There does seem to be a tendency to react quite a lot if one has not had any for ages. 6 days sounds a lot, to me.

Mine depends on how much I’ve eaten. But if it’s only a small cross contamination then a few hours but god do I have brain fog and horrendous farts!!

Thanks. 6 days does seem a lot.

Dds consultant said the longer you go without gluten the worst the reaction when you have it which seems true for her. Her symptoms last about 12 hours after being glutened.
