Neocate baby (TMI)

Hello everyone
My lo is 4,5 months old and about 5 weeks on Neocate. It started off really well, with solid poos and calm baby. Nowadays he's quite unsettled after he's been (he goes about every 3 days) and it looks like thick paint and the smell seems to get worse and worse.
Today he was inconsolable for a long period before and after he went and I have no idea whats going on.
Anybody here that had any idea or advice?

My gp is very keen to get him otherwise on Aptamil pepti 1 and we don't see a dietitian until the end of January sadly. He had a good short period on SMA LF but then started diarrhoea again (constant scrambled eggs consistency, hope nobody is eating while reading this sorry)
Thanks very much Flowers

I’m not sure why the GO wants to do this if I’m honest although I suspect their decision may be based upon cost.

The formula your LO is currently on is an amino acid based formula meaning that it is completely milk free. The one the GP is suggesting does contain Cow’s Milk.

As LO is still struggling, I’d recommend going back to the GP and insisting on a referral for allergy testing. There may be something in the formula which LO is also reacting to.

Agree with what JiltedJohnsJulie said- aptamil pepti 1 is a starter formula for CMPA babies and is hydrolysed meaning that it contains milk. Neocate is an amino acid formula so is completely dairy free and is much more expensive. I had to really fight to get it.
Could you call the hospital and ask if there's a cancellation? Alternatively, when I was worried and had a question, I was able to call the hospital and a dietician would always call me back so I could discuss over the phone. Is that an option do you think? I hope it resolved itself soon for you and your DC.
