Alcohol/white wine intolerance

I think I might have developed an intolerance to alcohol and in particular the more acidic white wines. I’ve spent the day sick in bed and vomiting/diarrhoea for several hours which seems to have stopped, thankfully.

I did have quite a lot to drink (2 glasses of fizz and a bottle of wine over the course of 5 hours with food).

I deserve a hangover but these ‘stomach flu’ type hangovers are vicious.

I’m pretty sure my friends think I’m being daft when I insist on buying a low acid wine but today is a grave reminder of why I do it.

Last night I made a judgment error in the the only low acid grape I could see (Viognier) was a blend with Chenin. Didn’t know that Chenin is one of the most acidic wines.

Anybody else have these intense digestive upsets after white wine?

For me it’s the fizz. Makes me so ill.
