well after my fab experience following the mn soapnut recommendation, and in a bid to keep dd chemical free to calm her skin down, i have now started doing the oats in a sock in the bath thing.

well so far so good! her skin didn't go red as it does after a bath with oilatum and it's still calm now. so thankyou to all you eczema mums who have suggested the oats in a sock in the bath, twas marvellous!

dh thought i was bonkers going with the soapnut thing, i have yet to tell him i am now bathing dd in porridge...

Have to say I lol'd at the thread title!

it is brilliant, isn't it ?! My DD's skin calmed right down after using it (we still have to use diprobase & hydrocortisone though afterwards )

Keep a supply of cheap or worn out tights in the bathroom. That way you can cut off a length to fill with oats and chuck it afterwards, rather than try to wash the sock.

I buy tesco value 5 pairs for a £1 hold ups. They are perfect, you can get 3 'oat bombs' out of one leg and there's no gusset going to waste (ooo-er)

oooh thanks good ideas! so tights better than sock we think? was wondering about what to do with the oaty sock.
