Advice needed - called 111 just waiting for response from out of hours GP but posting for advice in meantime

DS 4.5months old
Totally fine, no fever, happy as Larry, eating ok (for him) and otherwise generally well

Is this MSIP?

What is MSIP? Does your baby only drink milk or do they have solids too?

Milk soy protein intolerance.

Formula fed SMA only, have you seen anything like this before?

Any cuts on the bottom?

It could just be a one-off, but it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on and seeing the GP over if it continues. It’s not automatically an intolerance so don’t start cutting anything out unless advised. DD had this for ages on and off, we were referred to the paediatrician, he checked her over, it went away all by itself - he said it was just one of those things.

Had this a couple of times when DS was a baby.

First time it turned out he had a sore bottom (very far inside) from the usual 8 times a day breastfed baby poo routine ... no signs externally at all of nappy rash.

Second time, he had severe tonsillitis and was incredibly unwell (i thought he had sepsis and was dying. It was awful)- the blood in his poo was judged to be from his throat

It can happen- see your dr tomorrow if you can— if possible keep the nappy (triple bag it, in a lunchbox and into the fridge) so they can take a poo sample from it.

Seems a bit odd if he hasn't had any solids. Something going on for sure.
