DS (2) came down with some hives on his face after breakfast this morning. I'd previously thought his breathing a bit loud and that he looked a bit grey - but neither of these unusual.
Took him to the GP (I'd never seen hives before) but they'd vanished by the time we got there. He said probably a virus (DS had a brief low fever and vomited on Sunday night, but has been right as rain since) and to get some piriton if rash came back.
Dropped him at nursery and got a call after lunch that hives were back and more extensive and his chest seemed a bit loud. Husband went to take him back to GP, but again spots vanished and he seemed well so came home and gave piriton.
DS has just come down in spots again after dinner - a few at first, then after force-feeding a second dose of piriton loads more. Almost all on his face. Breathing seems ok and he's been well in himself with eating and playing (if a little tired) all day.
I have zero experience with allergies and I'm now terrified of a more serious reaction overnight. Any calming words from more knowledgeable people, please?
And does this sound like viral hives or food allergy? (Nursery suggested milk, which would fit so far.) How do I proceed if it keeps happening, and keep him safe while working out what's going on?
Thank you in advance for any advice.
