About got low IgA?

Son has low IgA, I think daughter does too and she has 6 symptoms of celiac sprue. I need talking down please

It’s common in coeliac disease, you can lead a perfectly normal life these days

If you’re worried have them tested just remind folk of the Immune problem as this can cause false negative if not taken into account

He was tested for coeliac at the same time and came back negative. I'm in a real spin now because we think (successful on elimination diet) he's Sucrose intolerant

My son is being treated as Coeliac and is IGA negative. He's had the genetic test so with those two indicators plus symptoms he's being classed as Coeliac until such a time as he is old enough for a gluten challenge and can take care of himself. (Long story as to why he went gluten free before biopsy! Don't do this yourself!)
Anyway, he is a different child, meat on his bones, colour in his cheeks and plenty of energy. The diet is a pain as he is enormously fussy but utterly worth it. Of all the things he could 'have' I'd take coeliac disease any day.

@SerialGoogler what's does the Negative IgA mean for your lo? We've had the biopsy and there was no visual signs of coeliacs but he's got patches of inflammation on his bowel and very low IgA

For us it is just another piece of the puzzle/medical history as Coeliacs are more likely to be IGA deficient than the general population. Practically speaking I don't think it affects him. He used to get all sorts of upper respiratory infections but since going GF he's hardly ill at all.
I did read up about IGA def and will mention it to medics if he ever needs a blood transfusion but no one, consultant included, gave it any weight in terms of it being a health concern.
