I've just taken an allergy... what's the culprit?

I've just taken a mouth reaction allergy to the ready meal macaroni cheese I've just eaten. it was an 'improved recipe' but I used to be fine with it. Looking at the ingredients, the three possibilities are: nutmeg, pimento, mustard flour. I'm sure I've eaten all of these before.

I'm allergic to many nuts (worst with peanuts) but haven't had a reaction in a while. I did react to a few different curries that I was previously OK with when pg. Can you develop new allergies in pregnancy? Are any of these spices in curries?

remember its the second contact that produces the response - eaten them all twice? Was it a "may contain nuts" meal or made in a factory using nuts? If so its possibly nut contamination. Could have been the mustard flour, could have ( legally undeclared) lupin flour in it. If you have the packaging and can get another with the same details you may be able to get it tested for nuts - but our experience is that it's impossible to find out. You could speak to the manufacturer.

You can develop a new allergy at any time, unfortunately.

My dd has a serious peanut allergy and other allergies besides. But at the moment I am seriously thinking nutmeg is a culprit. Worth investigating. Everytime I make rock buns she seems to get bumps/hives and becomes very itchy. The other ingredients I usually use anyway so just really the nutmeg or currents. Sorry I dunno if this is of any advantage to you but worth thinking about.

Thanks. Well, I've taken another one tody. To either a bagel or a can of coke. Both of which I eat/drink regularly. None of the ingredients are the same as the macaroni except the wheat flour and I'm alright with other flour things. Other option is the packaging. When I was very little I was apparently allergic to some types of plastic. So perhaps that has come back.

it's a strange one. My eczema has flared badly too. I'm seeing the nurse on Tuesday who can apparently refer me if she sees fit. I'm sort of scared to eat anything now... at least that'll help the weight!
