Anyone have any experience of the PKU diet?

My 12 day old nephew has just been diagnosed with PKU, I've done a bit of googling but am keen to know more about everyday living with the restricted diet, are there interesting recipe websites anywhere?

I'm a pretty good cook so am hoping I'll be able to cook nice things for him when he's older - jumping the gun a little I know but this is how I deal with bad news - forward planning what I can do to help

No experience sorry, but hopefully this will bump for you.

I have a friend whose son has this. From what I can tell it took them a while to get over the shock but now find it reasonably manageable. There are good Facebook groups on it apparently.

I think cooking anything will be tricky, everything they consume that has any protein (including veg) has to be weighed. They'll need prescription pastas etc

It is a very restrictive diet but once you get on top of it, easy to follow at home, but very hard to go out for meals. Excellent that they know so early and vital they stick to the diet.
