Allergy test referral

Hi, Just looking for a little advice.
After my LO had a suspected reaction to hazelnut, our GP advised a referral to have an allergy test and to see a specialist. He said we would have an appointment sent in the post but are yet to receive one, does anyone know how long it usually takes? We've been waiting almost 3 weeks now.
I don't want to ring the GP as I know they are busy and these things can take time.
TIA

They can take a while. We waited 5 weeks to hear when our appointment was for our baby at the dermatologist. We had a positive result for egg allergy in June and we are still waiting for an appointment to discuss this with allergy team. We have heard there is a 9 month waiting list. Ended up in hospital yesterday after he suffered a massive reaction to something unknown and so we are hoping our appointment comes soon!

Oh no, hope your LO is ok 🙁
I knew it would be a wait for the appointment but wasn't sure how long, I'll just keep waiting!

Hope you get an appointment soon and find out what's causing the reaction, it's a nightmare not knowing!

Thanks for the reply

Son was referred for a follow up appointment for his milk allergy and the waiting list was 3 months! I only found out when I called up a month into it to be told 😳

It's taken about three months for each of my children to get their first appointment, some hospitals have a lot of demand so it can be ages. There's a choose-and-book system that you could ask your GP about?

He is fine now thank you. Just another worry every time we introduce new stuff! What a pickle. Good luck, hopefully you will hear soon.

A long wait ahead then 😩
Thanks for all your replies, and I will look into choose-and-book system PragmaticWench

Have any of you been told about reliability of allergy testing? My DC has developed asthma type symptoms in the last 18 months. Believed to be allergy to pollen but everytime I ask for him to be tested I am told allergy tests are not reliable. I would like to know the triggers rather than him being prescribed medication when most of the time there are no symptoms.
