A couple of weeks ago I went out for a meal with friend and had prawns, I went dark red and burnong hot, my throat felt very tight and I felt really unwell after about an hour I got breathless then after about another hour it went off.
I didn;t really give it much thought until last night I went out with dh and had a seafood dish. the same thing happened but quicker this tim and I think the throat tightness might have been a bit worse, I took a photo of myself (as you do) and my lip and face are a little swollen but not drastic. Went off again after a couple of hours.
Wondering if perhaps I need to get some testing as obviously this sort of reaction has the potential to be bad. Should I go and see GP or not bother and just avoid sea food? I also worry slightly about hidden ingredients if it is a problem.

If it wa me, I'd see the GP and ask for an epi pen.

You can check your symptoms stopallergyguide.com/shrimp-allergy/ with this article. If you are sure that you have an allergy you should visit your doctor. Allergy can be very dangerous, especially food allergy.

My Dad developed a sea food allergy when he was in his fifties. He'd eaten a crab sandwich and within an hour he showed symptoms like you described. A few weeks later he picked up a crab shell to put into the bin, as he did so mhe scratched his hand on one of the claws, within minutes his mouth began to tingle and swell. Luckily our families doctor lived a few doors up, he had his surgery attached to his house so we rang for advice. A nurse came out straight away and gave him an injection. Dad was admitted to hospital as a precaution and told to stay away from sea food.
