lentil allergy, anyone else got one?

My 9 mth son had a lip swelling reaction that I thought was due to lentils i managed to control with piriton, He's now tested + to lentils I had cooked at home and taken to our allergy clinic for a skin prick test. I think the dr was quite amazed it came up as she looked at me as if I was mad when I took the pot in.
Anyone else have any experience of this and what reactions it can cause or any other foods that should be avoided as the dr was pretty unhelpful. I've heard lentils are related or part of the lupin group.

yep my daughter had hives and blotching to lentils @ six months. also has many other food allergies which are more severe. we have been advised to avoid lentils, peanuts, beans (even though recent skin prick -now 15 months- were negative) for another year before further tests/food challenge. think im right in saying they are all legumes. not uncommon to be allergic.

DS can't have lentils either, he seems to be allergic to all legumes.

IME the great majority of doctors are pretty clueless regarding food allergies. I can not remove from my mind the face expression of the doctor asking why I though having soya allergy was such a problem as it was part of a child diet... Felt like sending him to the supermarket with a list of all the different names under which soya is hiden. It's everywhere!

He is also allergic to milk protein (severe lip/face swelling reaction) and to eggs but we haven't been given an epipen. We have been refered to an allergy clinic and saw someone privatly recently. His skin prick test was negative to soya, chick peas, peanuts and he is ok with peas which I think are related. I keep getting conflicting info as to the seriousness of his allergies so it is so hard to know how threatening they are to him which makes me feel nervous trying him on new things.

We are taking part in the LEAP study at St Thomas hospital because he has eczema and an egg allergy so I think I will try and go armed with info. Thanks for your help.
