I thought I would pass this along to all the other parents of children with multiple food allergies.
I applied for DLA for ds2 way back in August 06. Ds2 has a heart condition, eczema & multiple food allergies. We got turned down twice and had to go to a tribunal yesterday. I won and ds was awarded low rate care (don't get me started on that one!) for 2 years because "he satifies the main meal criteria and/or requires attention for a significant portion of the day". I explained how he could not be left unsupervised as he may take food offered to him or pick up food that has been dropped by ds1. I am positive that it is the main reason ds2 was awarded.
It could be worth applying for. However, if it gets turned down, going through an appeal is so mentally and emotionally draining, that it hardly feels like a victory.
