Hi,

I am a single dad whose 5 month old baby has just been diagnosed with a number of allergies ranging from type 1 with egg and to a lesser extend with milk and other dairy products.

I am looking for help from anyone with similar experiences especially in the following areas;

  1. Professional support
  2. Diet
  3. What to expect over time?

Any help would be appreciated as I'm lost and a little worried for my little boy.

Dad Smile

Dd has many food allergies including egg and milk.

Initial advice would be to ask (insist) for a referral to a food allergy specialist. They will see your boy regularly and assess his progress. It's very common to outgrow those 2 allergens and they will give him a food challenge in hospital to determine this when the time is right (ie when skin prick tests show its likely)

In terms of diet, main meals cooked from scratch are usually fine as are fruit, veg etc. Snacks are more difficult . You'll get used to checking the label of everything he eats

In terms of the future my two dd's have both grown out of egg allergy and milk is commonly outgrown before the age of 3 to 5.

Good luck. Keep asking here.
